2.) I like your reasoning HOWEVER
3.) Even as a person who LOVES the concept of authentic branding and social media and
4.) Even as a die-hard acronymist who's created tens of thousands of acronyms,

I have to contend against the concept of "Brand Optimization" and especially "BO" for at least the following quick reasons:
1.) Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Optimization don't happen in a vacuum
2.) Which means that if we're going to do Search Engine Optimization and if we're going to do Social Media Optimization we're doing it to optimally position something.

Which is what?

We're optimizing our relationship TO the search engine and we're optimizing our relationship TO social media FOR something.

Which is what?

Our BRAND.

By the way: as an acronymist, "B.O" has such a strong connotation to an earlier "B.O." which is NOT good! :-)

More seriously: I do think that SEO and SMO are enough...even for those of us who love social media and search engines and branding...

SEO is better that conventional promotion strategies. To start with, it expenditures far less. All one has to do is boost your sites for search engine. No need to obtain a ongoing base after that.

biggest frustation is they keep making same messages from time to time...like using ideal image of a slim woman as performance. Then playing around with image of a fat person. Old same messages from time to time....!
